Photo Credit to the lovely Kimberly Florence Photography! This coming year, 2015, is going to be phenomenal- I just know it! I have so many great things planned for this coming year including a styled shoot with a close friend, Lauren Thompson! I also have AN INTERNSHIP with Nikki Santerre Photography!!!!!!! You have. No. Idea. How excited I am for this! I can’t wait to be coming along to at least half of Nikki’s weddings with her this year and learning from the best!! Another great thing I have planned for this year is attending Abby Grace Photography’s workshop early in the year!! Ahh, I cannot wait!! With that being said, I wanted to share some goals that I have for 2015 with you all!
#1: Start booking weddings that fit more to my style.
This is something that I wish I could have done from the start, but I am very excited to announce. In the past, I have shot any kind of wedding just because I needed the experience. Now, I would love to be able to book the kinds of weddings that fit to my particular type of style.
#2: Learn about film photography from Nikki Santerre.
Film photography, to me, is the most elegant type of photography out there. I am literally jumping inside my skin that I get to learn about it from this wonderful woman.
#3: Second shoot weddings with Nikki Santerre and rock them out!
I would love to finish building my portfolio while interning with Nikki so I can start booking more weddings of my own! This will definitely be a giant leap in my business for myself.
#4: Reach 1,000 likes on my Facebook page.
This is going to be really hard for me to reach on my own, so I am going to need everyone’s help! I am just a little bit over 400 likes right now and would LOVE to hit 1,000 by the end of next year.
#5: Purchase some new gear!
I have been saving up for a while now and I definitely think I’m reading to purchase some new gear. I will definitely pick lenses over a new camera body because I love my Canon EOS 6D.
#6: Start blogging more frequently (at least 2-3 times per week).
This one is going to be a tough one for me because blogging takes a lot more time than you think. You have to sit down, pick a topic, think about what you want to say on that topic, make sure you have pretty pictures to go with the topic, and review it all so you don’t sound crazy or offend anyone! With college, I found last semester to be very challenging with blogging so I think I will definitely use my evenings to pre-blog so I won’t get behind in blogging this year.
#7: Plan my very own styled shoot.
This will most likely take place in the late summer of fall, but I would love to host my very own styled shoot. If there are any vendors out there that would like to sit down and chat about this, please email me at email@example.com
#8: Have a quicker and more efficient editing style.
This is a HUGE topic for me because in the past, I have spent days and days hand-editing shoots and weddings myself. I have realized that this takes up WAY too much time and I am searching for a solution (either outsourcing or changing my editing style altogether).
#9: Create a pricing guide with a designer.
I struggle a lot with pricing and have been pricing a lot lower than I should be (according to some very sweet photog friends). I want to sit down with a designer and realistically come up with a new pricing guide for myself!
#10: Successfully keep up with my business when I transfer schools.
This is the scariest and most exciting part of this business. I have finally established a business where I am located and have kicked it off well. Now, I will be transferring to a new location after next Fall to continue my education!
I hope you enjoyed hearing about all of my goals for this coming year! I know 2015 is going to be a great one, but challenging! I know I can overcome all of these goals and obstacles with my friends, boyfriend, family, and God guiding me the way. Do you have any goals for 2015?? Let me know and share about them in the comments!
