With such crazy schedules that Elyse and Ondrej both hold, it was nearly impossible to meet the two of them before their big day. In fact, it was so tough to find a date for an engagement session that we ended up having a day out at Sunset Hills Vineyard getting to know each other and learning to become old friends. It was a much needed way to start this year’s wedding season. Getting to know the two of them that day was very relaxed, just like their personalities. The funny part is – you would never expect that from their occupations. They both work in the law field, yet they are so easy to get along with and extremely relatable. In fact, I’m convinced that we’re all going snowboarding and skiing together next year.
Ondrej and Elyse met in law school at George Washington University. Fun fact: Elyse is actually from the very same county in California that I grew up in! How ironic is that?! Anyways, at George Washington University, these two were friends with a lot of the same crowd. Elyse ended up taking a while to pay him back for some hockey tickets so it took a while for Ondrej to come around. Once he finally did, a group of friends were supposed to go on a spring break trip to Fort Lauderdale where Elyse and Ondrej ended up being alone. They hit it off and have been traveling and exploring new restaurants and bars together ever since. Ondrej and Elyse have been dating long distance for quite some time now and they are so excited for that journey to be over in the next year.
Ondrej and Elyse’s big day was nothing short of amazing. With a sprinkle here and there in the forecast, we all kept our hopes up for the best. Thankfully, our prayers were answered and we had amazing weather for the remainder of the day. Getting ready in the Hay-Adams Hotel was nothing short of drop-dead gorgeousness. I mean seriously y’all, the décor had me gawking! Elyse and her girls got ready in the most beautiful robes and can we just talk about the hangers that she got her girls as gifts?! LOVE the hand calligraphy on them.
Ondrej and Elyse elected to do a first look which made for such a perfect timeline. We had so much time for portraits before the ceremony and it just allowed the rest of the day to run so smoothly. There were just a few family portraits after the ceremony and then the big party started!
The one thing that I loved the most about their wedding reception was the fact that it was OUTDOORS! This was one of my first outdoor receptions and I was SO excited! The lighting was great and there were so many fun activities to do. They had beer pong, jenga, and corn hole! We also spent some time celebrating a bunch of Czechoslovakian traditions throughout the night. These two were definitely one for the books when it comes to knowing how to throw a party! Congratulations Elyse and Ondrej – I am so happy for y’all!
