I knew immediately when I first heard from JD + Joo that we would get along perfectly. They are two of the most funny and entertaining people I have met to this day! When they explained (in depth) how they met, their first dates, etc, they literally told a third person story of everything so I could see it from both sides! I was DYING laughing reading this entertaining novel they wrote. Their love for each other is so sweet and I just can’t get enough of it. Their Georgetown engagement session on the waterfront shows nothing less than that either!
These two had know idea what they were getting themselves into when Joo was looking for a new place to live going back to grad school. They were both attending the University of Maryland and Joo had found the perfect place to live. Except she thought the other roommates, minus Kristen, could be strange (since she hadn’t met most of them). She decided to take the leap for it and moved in! Later on, Joo eventually met JD over a laundry debacle, which was a little awkward!
It didn’t stay awkward for long though thanks to Kristen intervening and putting the “okay” in JD’s ear to make his move! They went on a few more awkward first dates, but finally realized how much they really enjoyed each other’s company. They were literally perfect for each other. I mean, they even watched Gilmore Girls together!
After years of hiking and watching reality television shows (such as Game of Thrones) together, JD finally got the nerve to propose. He took Joo all the way back to where he first asked her to be his girlfriend – all the way back to college park. JD gave her a sweet card with reasons why he loved her and by the time she got to the end, he was down on one knee waiting for her hand in marriage!! AHH!! I just can’t even!!
We decided to take their engagement photos in Georgetown because they wanted photos that would be timeless and could show off their love no matter where they were. The sunset on the waterfront that morning was UNBELIEVABLE and even though it looked like it was about to downpour, we were blessed with a beautiful Friday morning.
After trekking all over creation, we finally found the Georgetown boat, as well as the gorgeous canals. These canals are so intimate and while we did not expect to see as many people running that morning as we did, they allowed for some pretty epic shots. We ended up finishing up the session on a beautiful street in the heart of Georgetown next to the quaintest little coffee shop. They even let pets inside! How fun is that?!
Y’all, I so hope you enjoyed hearing about these two and I can’t WAIT for their wedding next September! I know it’s not going to be anything less than spectacular!! Congratulations JD and Joo on your engagement!!
