It's something that happens to each and every single one of us. Whether you are a photographer with another full-time job like me, a working mom, or even a bride planning her wedding, this post is for all of you #bossladies out there!
Letting one aspect of your life consume the rest is very easy to allow and even if you love that aspect of your life more than the others, you still need to keep up to date with everything else. For example, I am a Full-time student, have a part-time job, full-time & devoted girlfriend, AND I am a full-time wedding photographer. Out of all of those, I definitely love photography and being a girlfriend the most, but if I were to slack off in the other areas and completely forget about them, I wouldn't get my education like I planned and I wouldn't have a back-up job in case anything happened with photography. That would be SCARY, wouldn't it?!
I've fallen in that trap too many times and it's time for it to stop. I'm sure some of you have fallen in the same trap and it's time for that to stop too! Whether you are a bride planning her wedding and neglecting her work-life, a photographer with the same struggles as me, or even a mom who likes reading these blog posts, let me tell you some ways to fix these issues:
1) Schedule time to binge on your unnecessary love-affairs. For example, I have serious addictions to just sitting on Style Me Pretty and scrolling and scrolling and scrolling...and next thing you know it, it's 2am and I haven't even started my homework.
2) Make priorities. Which of these things in your life are a necessity? Get those things done first and then have fun. I know that seems harsh, but what if an emergency came up and you didn't get any of your work done? You could possibly be out of a job and that would be no fun at all!
3) Schedule time for emails. Whether you are like me who has a day job and constantly checks her photography email every hour while she's at work or you're a bride planning her wedding doing the SAME thing, stop it. :) Schedule a time (your lunch break, maybe?) during your day that it is acceptable to return emails to those that you receive while you are doing real work! Don't think about those emails while you are working and the time will fly - I promise!!
I hope these tips help - I know they've helped me A LOT in the past few months and I've seen SO much progress!! Let me know what other tips you guys have too (in the comments or shoot me an email!!)
